Starting my very own first online business

After years of dreaming and wishing, I finally have the opportunity of a lifetime.

To see what is new in my life go visit to see where my journey to freedom has taken me

One of my dreams for awhile has been to have my own online business. For years off and on I would sell things on Ebay wishing I could do it full time.

I would be given items here and there mostly by my family. Then one year I was introduced to a business owner down in Dalton, Georgia who owned a hobby shop. He had some excess inventory of baseball, hockey and vintage Garbage Pail Kids cards he wanted me to list on Ebay. We had it set up where I would come back about every two weeks or so to exchange any sales made for additional inventory.

That lasted for a few months before that dried out. I was disappointed to say the least.

Then after a lot of research I found a drop shipper who offered name brand items at wholesale prices.  Not every item was worth listing on Ebay. Many of the prices were over what you would spend at Walmart or anyother known store. Of the items I did list I had some successes. At least for the moment.

A few weeks after beginning this venture, I began receiving emails about items that were defective. I realized then this business did not have a support system at all. I was stuck and I had to make sure my buyers were happy. Needless to say I had to refund hundreds of dollars. That left me burned badly.

I avoided the Ebay scene for nearly five years until I was looking at returning to college. I was looking for textbooks I needed for school and came across nearly all of them on Ebay. At that time I couldn't remember what my ID or password or my email had been so I created a new one.

It was not until the following year, August 2006 I decided to begin selling again on Ebay. This was mainly due to having textbooks and the fact I could make more money on them through Ebay than taking them to the school bookstore.

For a time I went through my children's clothes and was able to make some extra money.  That too dried up.

I still wanted to find something I would be able to do mostly at home that I had control of.

In August 2007 I was offered an opportunity of a lifetime by helping to set up and maintain an Ebay store offering construction equipment and supplies. The sales have been like a long roller coaster ride since August though. In February 2008 we decided to expand into a program Ebay has called ProStores. For the last month and a half we have been just building the store and gradually watching the views each day increase a little more.

However, I was recently notified that the end of April I will be on my own. I am working to produce sales to continue in this venture though I have begun focusing more on my official online business I invested in recently.

In February 2008 I was invited to a friends house from church.  She was introducing us to a business she has been in for 13 years. I have to admit I was very hesitant yet I wanted to hear what she had to say to us.  I mainly went to hear my best friend Mike's opinions about this venture opportunity.
The first few meetings were overwhelming for me although they were on the surface interesting to learn from.

Soon after, many of the people I had seen since the first meeting began signing up. They were all pumped and excited about this new venture.  I was beginning to feel left behind and I admitted this to Mike.  He was still to an extent, apprehensive and had many questions to ask before deciding to sign up.

I set up an appointment with the team leader, Mary Susan Reher and she quickly eased any conerns I had. Janice, Mike's wife came along with me since if I decided later to sign up they were going to be my sponsors.

The second week of March I traveled with Mike & Janice to  middle Tennessee to attend a local meeting. It was there I met Bruce Holder the speaker for the meeting. Bruce really motivated me in this meeting. He explained that we should not worry about this and that when thinking about signing up. Particularly about money. Just do it he said.

Right after the meeting I found Mary Susan and told her right away I was signing up. I was so excited I wanted to do it right then and there. I couldn't though since I still had some things I had to learn and decide what I was going to purchase as far as product goes.

I had to think of what I was going to name my online web portal. Well, that's simple. Journey to Freedom.

So my official website portal can be visited here .

I am very excited about the future of this business venture.  I am learning to overcome fears I've had when it comes to approaching others and selling.

My goal is to be activated in order to begin receiving checks very soon.  I am glad that everyone already established in the business made it clear work and effort IS required.

I am glad I've been given this opportunity to have my very own online business.  I am hoping beyond hope I will be one of those successful stories with this company I am a distributor for that gets to be a motivational speaker one day soon.

I have a unique stance in that I am a single mom raising three children, going to college, just got out of public housing and off of government assistance. I am at the moment hanging by a thread financially-until my business is up and going.

I have faith it will. I just have to be gently agressive with catching people's attention and geting them to try the products.
