Struggling with Potty Training
One of my
biggest struggles as a
parent has to be dealing with potty training. With my first born she
potty trained just before her 3rd birthday without a lot of struggling.
Then there was my son Caleb, who apparently rebelled. At 2
1/2 he
was showing signs of wanting to potty train so I bought him a potty.
All he would do though is pee in it. I was patient at first but when I
found out I was pregnant I wanted to put this potty training issue into
high gear. I didn't want to be changing diapers on two children at the
same time.
After attending a discipleship series class at church, I met Janice
Strawbridge. Janice at the time was working in the church's daycare
center as a teacher. Janice's background includes a degree in Early
Childhood Education from Tennessee Tech as well as owner of her very
own potty training site. To go to her website, click here.
Caleb was nearly four years old when I finally got him to potty train.
One of the main things I did was let go.
I had been very stressed and tense which did not help at all.
That was mainly why he was rebelling.
Janice had also suggested Caleb be allowed to pick out a favorite toy
to take with him to the potty. That too helped.
While I may not have potty trained Caleb using the 3-Day method, Janice
became my Potty Trainer to the Rescue! She helped save my
sanity
to say the least.
Now I am facing potty training my eldest son, Hunter. Of course I go
back and visit Janice's
site to get good tips as I am preparing to potty train Hunter.
